"A house is not beautiful because of its walls, but because of its cakes." Old Russian Proverb

24 Carrot Gold (Loudons)

I've often dreamed of opening a coffee shop - where it would be, what it would look like, what would be served. So imagine my surprise when, this weekend, I discovered my dreams have already come true. Loudons Cafe & Bakery (http://www.loudons-cafe.co.uk/) is perfect - a bright, open space with friendly staff, freshly baked treats and comfy sofas which are perfect for curling up with a cappucino.

Creative Coffees

Loudons, a family business, opened in Edinburgh's Fountainbridge area in January 2011. Inspired by the city's coffee house culture, their passion is for simple, healthy, full of flavour food. Ingredients are fresh, organic and locally sourced. Baguettes, scones, pizzas and pastries are baked every day and proudly displayed on solid oak counters designed and built just a few miles away in East Lothian.

Patisserie Perfection (Loudons)

Unlike many busy city centre venues, Loudons does not play music but sound-reducing panel windows and generous room between tables allows plenty of privacy for business meetings, gossiping or a bit of alone time. It's the kind of place you'll want to go back to time and time again - perfect for reading the newspapers on a lazy Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and their trademark Eggs Benny. Followed by a cake of course! To find out more, visit http://www.loudons-cafe.co.uk.

Decisions, decisions... Loudons' brilliant baking
Beautiful inside... (Loudons)
... and out! (Loudons)
