The Final Countdown...

It's hard to believe Christmas is only six weeks away, which means we have just over two weeks left before the official countdown begins! I've always liked the idea of creating my own advent calendar and have spent the last few days looking online for inspiration. There are loads of great ideas but this is my favourite so far...

Take My Hand...

... I'll show you the way. In general, men prefer to lead not follow - they hate asking for directions, complain about being dragged around the shops and always seem to know a shortcut when driving. But not Russian photographer Murad Osmann - he was quite happy to let his girlfriend guide him around the world and share the results...

Little Lord Fontleroy

It's fair to say that fonts are a little bit geeky. Comic Sans, Times New Roman, anyone for Arial Narrow?! However if like us, you're partial to a spot of blogging or designing, you'll know that the fonts you use say a lot about you and can help you say a lot. Forget the regulars like Verdana and Calibri - Lucinda Sans who!? - we're talking Throw My Hands Up In The Air, Call Me Maybe, Pencil Pete. There are thousands of stylish fonts available to download and are free for personal use so next time you're designing invites, printing letterheads or want to edit some photographs, why not visit www.dafont.com. We've listed some of our favourite fonts above to get you started.

If you go down to the woods today...

... you're sure of a big surprise! Welcome to Erin Gleeson's neck of the woods - a former food photographer from New York City who moved to a cabin in the woods of North Carolina and never looked back. Erin's fabulous blog, The Forest Feast, offers "inspiring, healthy recipes which are easy to make after a long day at work, yet impressive enough for a party".

Keep Your Chin Up

Windows of New York (www.windowsofnewyork.com) is a beautiful project by Jose Guizar, a young Mexican graphic designer based in New York. Since moving to the Big Apple, Jose has developed an obsession with the city's windows and each week, illustrates one for his website in a beautiful, simple and muted way.

Little Love Notes

Amy Moss' Eat Drink Chic is one of my favourite blogs and with Valentine's Day being just around the corner, it's the perfect excuse to share one of her brilliantly quirky craft projects. These little origami hearts were originally used as party invitations but provide a perfect secret space for writing little love notes. Here's how to create your own...

Peace, Love and Reindeer Hugs

The tree has been decorated, the Christmas tunes are playing and mince pies have officially become part of our daily diet but here at Highland Angel HQ we're not content twiddling our thumbs until Santa comes! This weekend we uncovered another fantastic free craft project to continue our festive fun and decided to share - just in time for the present wrapping and card sending season to commence...

Million Dollar Baby

Giving someone money for a birthday, Christmas or wedding present is a great way of making sure they get exactly what they want - it's quick, stress-free and easy to post too! But next time you put cash in a card, why not send something a little bit different...

"And all at once, summer collapsed into fall..."

50 Shades Of... Design Seeds

Every year, when the world gets ready for winter and the leaves begin to change, I try to find the perfect autumn tree. Reds, oranges, yellows, browns - I'm a golden-leaf-hunting Goldilocks. This week, inspired by my search, I discovered a fantastic blog called Design Seeds (www.design-seeds.com). Brilliantly simple, stylish and addictive - it's an online paradise for colour lovers.

The Borrowers Are Back In Town

{Slinkachu}

When visiting the bright lights of London, there are so many sights on the city's skyline that you could be forgiven for forgetting to look down. But next time you visit the big smoke make sure to check your feet - because the Little People are everywhere.

First Class

In New York City, the main building of the United States Postal Service bears the inscription: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." In Glasgow, pinned to a notice board at the Royal Mail sorting office, a sign reads: "If in doubt, deliver to Flat 1/1, 17 Montague Street, Glasgow, G4 9HU."

Smart Cookie

"Why send flowers when you can send biscuits?"
{www.biscuiteers.com}

It is a truth universally acknowledged that everybody loves biscuits. Big ones, little ones, square ones or round ones, chocolate ones and crumbly ones.

Shoe Be Doo Be Doo

Diamonds, Schmiamonds {http://lockerz.com/d/5163162}

Forget diamonds... high heels are a girl's best friend. Few things in life are as enjoyable as a new pair of shoes - their immaculate look, how they smell, the feeling you could give Heidi Klum a run for her money as you strut down the hallway catwalk feeling six feet tall.

Say "Cheese"

Candid Camera {www.marylikeme.tumblr.com}

I love photographs of people taking photographs. I always wonder who they are, what they are looking at and whether or not they know they're being watched. I might sound crazy, but it turns out I'm not alone. Below are two fantastic websites where people can upload their own photographs of people taking photographs (of people taking photographs, perhaps)...

All The Colours Of The Rainbow

Amazing Technicolour Website {Own A Colour}

Did You Know? On average, a computer or phone can display 16.7 million colours on its screen. You might think that's just a big rainbow, but the clever chaps at Own A Colour (www.ownacolour.com) have turned this colourful fact into something even more impressive. They plan to name each and every shade for at least £1, raising money for children's charity UNICEF.

Pedigree Chums

Party Pooches {http://www.domenicamoregordon.com}

Forget Lassie, Snoopy and Rin Tin Tin... say hello to the hottest hounds on the planet. Brad Pitt wants one, fashion designers have fallen head over heels and Pete Townshend already has a pack of pooches on his desk. Domenica More Gordon's must-have mutts won't chew the furniture, chase the cat or bark at the postman but are packed with personality, making them man's new best friend.

Thank You Notes

{www.ThxThxThx.com}

There's always something to be thankful for - family and friends, finding a pound under the sofa cushions, songs you like but know you ought not to. Leah Dieterich sets out to acknowledge them all. Growing up, her mother always told her to write thank you notes, so she does. Every day. Thxthxthx (www.thxthxthx.com) is her daily exercise in gratitude, and it's brilliant.
