Hold The Front Page

It is often said that today's newspapers become tomorrow's fish & chip wrappers, but yesterday's headlines might also come in handy for your next manicure. Our quirkiest Ready For A Mani-Pedi post to date - courtesy of Polish polishaholic Orlika (http://lakieroholiczka.blogspot.co.uk) - is fun, stylish and surprisingly simple.

 1. Apply a base coat of nailvarnish - something neutral and light. I used Basil Street by Nails Inc.

2. Cut or tear 10 strips of newspaper, about 30mm x 30mm. Try to choose pages with lots of text, as this will be transferred onto your nails. If you're careful, you can pick certain words or phrases to be in the centre of your strips. I went for the Edinburgh Evening News' Sports Section...

3. Once your nail varnish is completely dry, soak each finger in alcohol (I used Gordon's Gin, which worked well but seemed a waste!) for about 45 seconds, until the nail is wet.

4. Apply a strip of newspaper to each nail and hold in place for 30 seconds. Press firmly on the paper to ensure the ink is transferred to your nail, but be careful not to smudge or move the paper. After carefully peeling off the newspaper, allow your nails to dry before finishing with a coat of clear polish to prevent the print from smudging.
